4. How a 2-year blended MBA curriculum works

Most blended MBAs split two years into terms. You study core management subjects first, then add specialised courses and a final project.

Data science and AI subjects

Here, programmes differ the most. IIM Nagpur teaches Python and R, data science, AI foundations, generative and agentic AI, natural language processing (NLP), and predictive and prescriptive analytics as part of the degree itself.

Field projects and capstones

Projects turn classroom learning into proof you can show employers. IIM Nagpur requires a mandatory 60-hour field project. Similarly, IIM Visakhapatnam’s Executive MBA ends with a 4-credit capstone project in its final term.

Almost every MBA now mentions AI. However, the depth varies a lot.

At IIM Nagpur, AI sits inside the core curriculum, with subjects such as GenAI, agentic AI and NLP. Meanwhile, IIM Visakhapatnam’s programme page describes about 12 hours of GenAI learning. It also notes that TimesPro, not the IIM, issues the separate GenAI certificate.

6. Degree, certificate and alumni status: why it matters

A full MBA degree carries more weight than a certificate when promotions or job moves ask for a postgraduate qualification. Both IIM Nagpur and IIM Visakhapatnam award a degree along with alumni status. In contrast, options like IIM Calcutta’s Advanced Programme in Data Sciences give you a certificate. That certificate can still build skills, but it does not replace an MBA.

Among the IIM options above, blended MBA fees range from about ₹12 lakh to ₹20 lakh. At IIM Nagpur, the ₹12,10,000 fee is all-in. You pay ₹1,00,000 at acceptance and the balance in 4 instalments. IIM Visakhapatnam’s page lists ₹11,90,000 and mentions EMI options.

A simple way to judge value

Consider an illustrative example. Neha is a 32-year-old marketing manager in Bengaluru with 7 years of experience, earning ₹18 lakh a year. Spread over 24 months, IIM Nagpur’s fee works out to about ₹50,400 a month. Suppose her new data and AI skills help her move into a marketing analytics head role at ₹23 lakh. In that case, the ₹5 lakh yearly rise would recover the fee in under two and a half years.

11. Blended MBA selection process and how to prepare

Most IIM blended MBAs use a test plus an interview. IIM Nagpur holds its entrance exam on 22 November 2026 and interviews on 29 November 2026. Results come out on 1 December 2026, and the batch starts on 15 March 2027.

By comparison, IIM Visakhapatnam builds a composite score from its EMAT (47.5%) and a personal interview (47.5%), with a 5% weight for female and transgender applicants. A valid CAT, GRE or GMAT score may replace the EMAT.

How to prepare for the test and interview
